Island Time

Island Time is a children’s show produced in the Mariana Islands that teaches the Chamorro language and culture, and celebrates the Marianas community as a whole. Island Time‘s ambitious pilot episode, “Inventions,” was produced by the Northern Marianas Humanities Council and directed and created by Saipan-based Chamorro filmmaker Sophia Perez. Combining live-action stories involving both humans and puppets, animated features, and musical numbers, “Inventions” premiered on Saipan on Monday, October 24, 2022 and will continue to be screened throughout the Marianas and in the continental US for the next year.
